There is absolutely no question that ACCGC accreditation has led to enhanced recognition of and respect for Cal Poly’s Graphic Communication program across campus. While we’ve always had good support from the Cal Poly administration, once the ACCGC accreditation was awarded, support in the way of resources–funding and staffing–was tremendously enhanced.
– Dr. Harvey R. Levenson, Retired Department Chair, Cal Poly

The entire accreditation process is a valuable experience for both the institution being reviewed as well as the visiting accreditation team.”
-Dr. Thomas P. Bell, Professsor, Department of Industry and Technology, Millersville University

All organizations benefit from an external review from knowledgeable and committed persons. Such reviews help an organization learn how others view them, a very difficult task to accomplish in other ways. This is particularly true for a university such as Cal Poly. As a part of a very large system of universities in a very large state, it is easy get trapped in a habit of mind that reflects the local environment rather than the world one is trying to serve. Clearly, without the accreditation process our task of continuous improvement would be much more difficult.
– Dr. Robert Koob, Provost – Cal Poly

It is always very affirming to have people you respect recognize the strengths of your program, just as it is valuable to receive their suggestions and recommendations. The ACCGC provided a thorough and objective review from a team of industry and education professionals that really understands the graphic communications industry and how higher education should prepare graduates for the field. We felt that the visiting team did a very thorough job of evaluating our program and produced some insightful observations. Even the reflection necessary in preparing the self-study produced a great sense of selfawareness among our faculty and staff and has helped us look to the future with enthusiasm.
– Dr. Ted M. Bensen, Professor and Program Director, University of Wisconsin-Stout

As good as any program is–and the Graphic Communication program at this institution has a history of real excellence–formal accreditation is the universal standard for such excellence. We are very proud of this program, and commend it’s very fine performance in the recent reaccreditation review.
– Dr. Linda Halisky, Dean, Cal Poly
